Top 5 hot drinks (not Karak!) you need to try
Whether it’s a thick indulgent hot chocolate or a luscious and decadent Sahleb, the dropping temperatures have us reaching for a cozy shawl and a comforting hot drink in our hands to gently sip in the chilly evenings.
The nation’s unofficial favourite drink may be Karak - but we’ve rounded up a list of five other hot drinks to try this winter in Qatar which could seriously endanger that first spot.
Hot Chocolate at Owl Speciality Coffee
There’s something that just hits different about a good mug of hot chocolate in the winter that isn’t quite the same at other times of the year. Add a dollop of whipped cream and a chocolate flake to the side, and you really can’t go wrong with this indulgent classic.
Salted Caramel at Baker St.
For a London experience, jump on the city’s famous red double-decker bus at Qatar’s very own Aspire Park, and enjoy your hot drink aboard or to go. Enjoy the winter wonderland vibes with a hot salted caramel topped up with whipped cream.
Cinnabon Coffee at West Village
This cafe in Dukhan is not just the perfect hot drink for winter, but Instagram-friendly with its forest green cups and wooden upholstery. Unwind in a tranquil setting as you enjoy their festive drinks and speciality coffee offerings.
Pink Kashmiri Chai at Shan-e-Lahore
We love anything pink - and this Pink Kashmiri Chai at New Shan-e-Lahore Restaurant is no exception. Often called Pink Tea, this Kashmiri chai is a savoury milky tea characterised by its dusty pink colour and crushed nuts garnishing. Brewed with green tea leaves, it’s mixed with milk and salt to give its distinctive colour. This drink is a welcome change to the many sweet offerings with its salty notes and definitely worth a try.
Sahlab at Atrium Lounge & Cafe
This thick white drink originates from Turkey, and is a popular drink across the Middle East. Prepared from Sahlab flour which comes from orchid flowers, the powder is typically thickened with milk and sugar, giving it a creamy and smooth texture. Chopped nuts, cinnamon powder and coconut flakes top the drink, providing a beautiful contrast to the smoothness of the drink and warming your very soul.
